Industry: statistical diagnosis

Proizvodstvo18-11-2009 Industry: statistical diagnosis Contrary to optimistic expectations of the Government's industrial decline in Russia in October not only slowed, but on the contrary, even accelerated. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, industrial output in January-October of this year decreased by 13.3% compared to the comparable period in 2008. In October, continued to decline - to 11,2% in annual terms. The situation of individual sectors and industries does not look so negative, but the expected recovery of growth is not observed. In the past month, according to official data, industrial output declined by 9,5% compared to September 2008. As analysts at the October data are statistically influenced by calendar factors. In October this year for one working day less than they were in 2008. But the "Calendar" in this case is not very principled. It is worth recalling that just last October, began the decline in production. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, industrial production in Russia in October 2008 rose by only 0.6% annualized vs. 6.3% in September. Thus, the current October is designed to falling production volumes, as opposed to a decent base last September. From this angle, reducing the volume of industrial output following last month looks even more unpleasant.
